Level A Skills Assessment

In order to do well in this level of the program your child should have completed the ALP Program OR have all of the following skills in order to do well in this level of the program:

  • Can stay on task for 30 minutes or longer (for example when playing a game, cleaning up toys or looking at a book).
  • Can read and write the entire Arabic alphabet.
  • Can read and write Arabic numbers 1-10 (at least, 1-100 is preferred)
  • Can give the meanings of at least 5 Arabic words from the Qur’aan (for example shams, naas, rasool, etc.).
  • Can color staying in the lines without scribbling.
  • Can complete arts and crafts activities independently that involve cutting, pasting, etc.
  • Has memorized at least the last 10 surwaar in Juz ‘Amma (30th Part of the Qur’aan) and can recite them clearly without assistance.
  • Has memorized at least 10 daily ad’iyaa (i.e. eating drinking, sneezing, etc.) and can recite them clearly without assistance.
  • Has had some exposure to the Tafseer of the suwaar and the meanings of the ad’iyaa (this is preferred but not required).

How to evaluate your child’s performance:

  • If your child cannot complete all the items on this assessment, we recommend you purchase the ALP Program first.
  • If your child can complete all items on the assessment, then he is ready to enter Level A of the  Program.
  • If your child can do more than this assessment covers (for example writing short ayaat or memorizing more than 1/2 of Juz ‘Ama) move on to Level B.
