Weekly Reminder #18
Weekly Reminder #18 We all love to have good things, but can having too many good things be bad for us? Ad-Duha Weekly Challenge This week look at your lifestyle, possessions, budget, etc. and ask yourself how these show your priorities in life. Do you think Allah would be happy with the decisions you have made with the provision He has given you? Has seeking wealth led you to hurt, neglect, or take the rights of anyone around you? What about doing something haraam in the pursuit of provision (even if you think it is small)? If so, think about ways you can change the priorities in your life to better reflect the love of Allah, His creation, and service to family, community, and Deen. Maybe that means slowing down at work and spending time with your kids or volunteering at the masjid.
Maybe it means changing your job or profession to avoid doing something haraam. Maybe it means spending on good causes rather than buying an expensive item (i.e., clothes, car, house, etc.) just to impress others or fulfill desires. Any way you do it, just find a way to come closer to Allah by giving of your wealth in a way that is pleasing to Him, or slow down your pursuit of wealth so that you can have time to fulfill the rights of Allah as well as family, friends, and neighbors.
May Allah help us in all that is best and most pleasing to Him in this life and the next. May Allah also bless our provision to be a means of drawing us nearer to Him not a means of drawing us away.
