Weekly Reminder #32

Parents are entitled to kindness and compassion even if they haven't always been perfect parents. Ad-Duha Challenge This week, reach out to your parents with some small act of kindness, particularly if you have been estranged from them for a while. For example, send them a letter, write them a text, cook them a meal, buy them a gift, or visit them for an afternoon, etc. It does not matter what the act of kindness is, or what the reason for the estrangement was, what's most important is the act of reaching out to your parent and making that connection that Allah has instructed us to make. That being said, if your parents are abusive to you (sexually, physically, verbally, financially, etc.) you are not obliged to reach out to them. Allah is not asking us to put ourselves in harm's way or to cause ourselves mental and/or physical harm, and Allah knows best.
