Weekly Reminder #5

Weekly Reminder #5 People often make fun of others, even close friends and family. We usually start out not meaning any harm, but as we keep going it can get worse and worse leading us to insult or ridicule another person through our words. Allah wants us to treat others the way we would like to be treated at all times. So how can we do that? Ad-Duha "Don't Laugh at Others" Challenge! This week, try to avoid laughing at others or being silent while others are laughing or making fun of another person. Better yet, if you see others making fun of someone, encourage them to stop and turn to a better topic, Insha-Allah. (Wouldn't you want people to do that for you if you were the subject of mockery, backbiting, or slander?) It's especially important to practice this habit with your spouse, children, and close family members before focusing on others outside of your family. Treating your family with the best manners will give you two rewards, one for speaking kindly and the other for keeping kinship ties. By the end of the week, you should feel a big difference and the people around you will notice a difference, too. You will have made the world a better place for yourself and others with a simple action.
